A monster in the castle
It used to be, when the monster came to the castle and began preying upon the people in the village, eventually they would rise up, gather their pitchforks and torches and beat their plowshares into swords to go and slay the beast.
I guess that was because they didn't have cable television to tell them that the monster was entitled to consume their daughters and slaughter their sons, that the monster had worked hard to achieve its unnatural powers and that those powers then entitled it to do as it pleased with its hard-won castle.
No, those people knew better. They lived in a simpler time, in a day when, if a monster moved into the castle, you pulled him out and tore him apart with your friends and neighbors at your side.
Wake up. The monster is in the castle. Gather your pitchforks, ignite your torches, gather in the square. The moment is coming when we will have to go and confront the beast and assert, with one voice united, that we will not tolerate its depredations and deciet any longer.
And though some of us may fall, in the end the monster will repay the cost of our sacrifice with its own blood.
